Körapur 690 6 kg – 2K PU poured floor top layer for transport applications

Körapur 690 is a two-component polyurethane (2K PU) system used as a top/cover layer for poured floors in trucks, containers, sales vehicles/mobile shops, motorhomes and trailers. In practice, it is intended for cargo floors that must withstand continuous mechanical wear, operational loads and regular cleaning—without flaking, crumbling or losing performance over time.

    Designed for demanding service conditions

Körapur 690 is especially suitable for vehicles transporting fresh goods, typically meat and fish, as well as refrigerated/frozen transport. The system is stated as tested down to -30 °C, which matters in real life: many standard coatings become brittle and start cracking or peeling at low temperatures. This product is positioned for that harsher operating regime.

    Food-contact approval

For food transport, “looks clean” is not enough. Körapur 690 is described as physiologically harmless and approved for food contact, with a test certificate available. That is a key requirement for bodies used for meat/fish transport and other hygiene-controlled applications.

    Suitable substrates

The product is intended for application on common vehicle-body substrates such as:

    • polyester (e.g., GRP/laminate components),
    • aluminium,
    • primed steel sheets,
    • wood.

Across all substrates, performance depends heavily on surface preparation. Without proper degreasing, abrasion and correct process control, even high-end systems will fail—cargo floors just reveal it faster, especially at edges and high-load zones.

    Anti-slip surface and system durability

When an anti-slip surface is required (and for cargo floors it usually is), the solution is system-based:

    • broadcast granules into the surface during curing to create texture,
    • then apply a sealing/top layer using Körapox BS 85.

This approach delivers very good service life because the granules provide mechanical anti-slip structure and the epoxy top layer stabilizes the surface against grain pull-out, abrasion and more aggressive cleaning routines.

    What to control during application

    1) Respect the 2K process

Körapur 690 is a 2K system. That means you must follow the correct mix ratio and ensure homogeneous mixing. Mixing mistakes are expensive on floors: they often show up later as soft areas, poor wear resistance or peeling under real load.

    2) Layer thickness and transitions

With poured floors, the material is only part of the result. Even thickness and correct detailing at transitions/edges are critical. Most failures start at edges, thresholds and zones of concentrated point loads (wheels, pallet trucks, stands).

    3) Apply under proper temperature conditions

PU systems are sensitive to the temperature of the substrate, ambient air and the material itself. Applying in cold conditions or on a damp/dewy surface will compromise adhesion and curing. For transport flooring, a controlled process beats “let’s just do it” every time.

    Product category

Körapur 690 belongs to the industrial chemicals range and is intended for body builders and transport manufacturers who need a durable poured floor top layer with an anti-slip option and properties relevant for food-related applications and low-temperature service.
